Overview of the Ministry
Garry Castner went to the field of Chile in February of 1993. He spent about a year learning the language while living in Santiago. They labored in the city of Temuco for over 10 years and now presently live in the city of Villarrica.
The Chilean ministry of the Lehigh Valley Baptist Church is a church-planting ministry. The main focus is the starting of independent Baptist churches in the ninth and tenth regions of Chile. In 2005 we organized our first work in Temuco, while ordaining a Chilean as pastor. A nucleus for a work has been formed in Labranza (14 kilometers west of Temuco), and also in Pucon (120 kilometers southeast of Temuco). These goals are being accomplished by Garry Castner and Donald Heinz, who are both sent and serviced by LVBC.
Garry is on the field at this time, and is currently focusing his ministry on raising up churches in Pucon and Lastarrias, through ministry training, evangelism, and literature. However, the Lord has also given him the opportunity to help a wounded church get back on its feet in Loncoche.
